Call me Aaron

Words still matter.

On blogs, on websites, on message boards and comment sections, on good old paper books and on the remarkable Kindle 2, on billboards and graffiti and newspapers and postcards and more, we are surrounded by the written word.

Of course, visual and aural communication matters too. This is the age of YouTube and Hulu, Tivo and the one-two punch from the iPod and iPhone.

But these technologies will be supplanted by others at an accelerating pace. Nothing will replace the power of the right words to inspire, communicate, inform and entertain.

The challenge is to use the right words at the right time.

As Mark Twain wrote: “The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter–it’s the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”

Sometimes the situation calls for a jagged streak of dazzling white-hot lightning. Other times, a warm cloud of twinkling, glowing fireflies is a better fit.

As a professional writer, a big part of my job involves picking the right words and stringing them together to communicate the right message with the most effective voice.

If you have any comments, questions or lucrative assignments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Sincerely,
Aaron Dalton
